Customer Reduces Emissions With SWEPCO’s Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Choice Programs
October 25, 2023
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.- Rockline Industries, a manufacturer with two facilities in Arkansas served by SWEPCO, achieved a 36 percent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions through participation in the SWEPCO Renewable Energy Choice. The achievement was reported by Arkansas, Money and Politics.
Rockline Industries, a manufacturer of coffee filters and a wide range of consumer, medical, and commercial wet wipes, embarked on a journey towards sustainable business practices 15 years ago. In 2020, the company reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to sustainability, and established ambitious and aggressive sustainability goals, including a pledge to reduce carbon emissions by 50 percent by 2032.
Notably, associates at the Booneville, Arkansas, plant collaborated with SWEPCO's Energy Efficiency team. Through meticulous analysis, audits, and the implementation of best practices, SWEPCO supported the Booneville team by identifying opportunities to reduce energy consumption by an impressive 7.4 percent, surpassing their 5 percent goal.
Rockline's Springdale, Arkansas, team also harnessed the benefits of SWEPCO's Energy Efficiency programs over the years. Both plants are current participants in SWEPCO's Strategic Energy Management Program, which resulted in significant energy savings of more than 1,558 megawatt hours at both locations.
SWEPCO teams collaborated on the announcement of the milestone that showcases how Rockline is meeting their sustainability goals through focused energy efficiency conservation and participation in SWEPCO’s Renewable Energy Choice Program.
“This was a unique partnership with our customer and was the first time SWEPCO has gotten a request to promote participation in our Renewable Energy Choice Program,” said Mark Mobley, SWEPCO Customer Services Manager. “While it was the first request, I expect it to become more common.”
Across our service territory, business customers are working to achieve and articulate their commitments and progress on the sustainability front.
Paul Pratt, Director of Customer Services & Marketing at SWEPCO, emphasized the company's commitment to assisting customers in meeting their sustainability commitments, increasing efficiency, and supporting business growth through energy-related products and services designed for commercial customers, as well as a diverse generation portfolio that includes renewable power.
"Across AEP and SWEPCO, we’ve made smart investments in clean energy to help stimulate economic growth, reduce emissions, and take advantage of new technologies,” said Pratt. “We’re proud of our support for Rockline to achieve its own sustainability goals by participating in our energy efficiency programs."
